Set amidst an ethnic village, under the thatched roof on a ‘charpoy’ sing the villagers to the tune of ‘dhol’, ‘majeera’, & ‘dhapli’, with the tune a woman weaves a basket and the potter shapes his dreams into reality on the moving wheel; all this and more is coupled with ethnic cuisine prepared by the native villagers. Some of the dishes here are those that one seldom gets to taste in today’s modern times and urban lifestyle. The menu comprises ‘litti’, ‘bati-chokha’, ‘sattu’, ‘thandai’, ‘lassi’ and ‘chabaina’. The food here is served in traditional utensils after a live cooking amidst the ethnic surroundings.

A village picnic is all about the Indian village tradition. The best proposition about the entire episode is that nothing is modern from the location to the people and from the food of love to that of stomach, all makes you nostalgic.
