Next on the nomination list of new 7 Wonders was Rumi Darwaza or the Turkish Gate. The gateway that now symbolises Lucknow of yore. A glance at it will leave you awe-struck and will glue your eyes to it, till you are shaken from the deep thought of this marvelous design. 

The British faced the most gruesome incidents here during the Indian Mutiny of 1857. Today the speechless walls, old trees, canons, canon balls and the graveyard all tell the sad tale of what happened to about 3000 British men, women and innocent children. Loud cries of weeping women and children can be felt here if one visits it today.
