State tourism department is set to move Chhattar Manzil, Kothi Darshan Vilas and Lal Baradari from state culture department to tourism department. These properties are from the state archaeology directorate, a unit of culture department, since 1956. Chief Minister Akhilesh Yadav is planning to development Chhattar Manzil into a live museum of Avadh’s legacy. He has also launched the Chhattar Manzil Restoration project in February 2015 and afterwards appointed INTACH to prepare a `reuse and revitalisation of this building.

Addressing structural damages, ensuring safety of the building, shifting of the state archaeology directorate in the Chhatar Manzil and planning for development of live museum as a part of `reuse’ plan would be the key aspects for it. For other two buildings the plan is to develop a heritage hotel and a tourist interpretation center.
