The Ultimate Travelling Camp (TUTC) Lodge, Dudhwa
( Suggested itinerary and 2 nights / 3 days package : park remains closed from September to October due to Monsoons and so does the lodge. Our Package will remain suspended all this while. 15th November each year is the park opening date.)
Arrive Lucknow in the morning hours or you will be picked up from your hotel in the city (it is important to leave early, not later than 0800 hrs). Our representative will meet and assist you to board your exclusive car. Later drive to TUTC Lodge, Dudhwa. On this wonderful four and a half hours drive pass through a great countryside and sugarcane fields, en route in the car you will be served cold breakfast and reach Dudhwa by lunch.
On arrival we will check-in at the TUTC Lodge : Imagine hundreds of acres of sugar cane fields all around with dashes of bright yellow mustard patches in between; we stay here in this lodge that was a private home built in the 1940s in the middle of this plantation which was once used by the British Governors as a hunting lodge.
We will enjoy our lunch here on arrival and post lunch we will set out for an afternoon safari through Kishanpur (range of Dudhwa forest) that is home to Tigers, Rhinoceros, Elephant, Swamp Deer, Sambar, Cheetal, Hog Deer, Kakar, Wild Pig, Blue Bull, Rhesus Monkey, Langur, Sloth Bear, Porcupine, Otter, Monitor lizard, Turtles, Python, Mugger, Gharial etc. Among all this we just about guarantee sighting of the one horned rhino.
Back to our lodge, dinner and overnight at the lodge.
This morning get up to the chirping birds around the lodge that in itself is and the sounds of animals. Of the nearly 1300 birds found in the Indian subcontinent, over 450 species can be seen in the Reserve. These include Hornbill, Red Jungle Fowl, Pea fowl, Bengal Florican, Fishing eagle, Serpent eagle, Osprey, Woodpeckers, Shama, Indian Pitta, Paradise flycatcher, Orioles, Emerald dove etc. During winter the vastand varied water bodies attract a large variety and number of migratory birds making the reserve a favourite haunt of bird watchers. Today we will set out for yet another pre-breakfast safari into the park. Morning are quite different than the afternoons and it is imperative to experience this in the National Park itself on an elephant back moving through the tall grass. We will return for a forest breakfast to our jeep and later continue our Safari.
By lunch we will be back to our lodge to enjoy hot lunch.
Later evening we will visit a nearby Tharu Village. The local Tharu tribe have weaving patterns unique to them. Witness their skills as you explore tribal life in the village.
Enjoy an evening walk in the fields and of course an evening drink at the lodge, followed by a dinner.
