No physical police verification for Indian passports now

Back

In its new move, Indian government has announced that new passports will be dispensed without physical police verification. Instead, the new plan is to connect the passport verification process with Crime and Criminal Tracking Network and Systems Project (CCTNS). The project that was first framed by the UPA government in 2009 has now been rolled out. This new move would fast-forward the process of passport verification, and in turn will help us to get our passports sooner.
