It was in 1970, when flights regularly operate from Kanpur to cities like Delhi, Ahmedabad, Allahabad, Kolkata, Bangalore, Chennai, Pune and Mumbai. Being partially public and owned by Indian Air force, this airport was not actively used in past five years. But, after around one-and-a-half-year, a flight from Delhi landed in Kanpur, which now unwrap the deserted look of the airport. The Chakeri airport uses CAT IIB Instrument Landing System (ILS) that enables the visibility for better landing. But lacking the night landing facility, it not really satisfied private operators as they have to limit their landing to day hours only.
