King George’s Medical University (KGMU) gets patients from various cities like Gorakhpur, Varanasi and Allahabad, and are required to travel by road in ambulances, the journey took seven hours or so which increases the risk for patients. Keeping this in view, KGMU has decided to get an intra-state air ambulance service in UP. This service may take a yearlong or so to get started.

In the initial stage, this service will connect at least ten major cities with KGMU, under which the patients from different parts of UP will be brought for treatment to KGMU. This service would cost around INR 60,000, and the proposal of sharing the burden with the government and collecting funds through corporate social responsibility (CSR) has been sent, which will help the poor patients to get the same facility, without any charge. This service will reduce the travel time and major distances could be covered in less time, which will give better chance to doctors for treatment and will increase the chances of survival for patients as well.
