A Symposium to mark the memory of Major General Claude Martin, Founder – La Martiniere. (Strictly by invite)
The symposium shall include illustrated & riveting lectures by:
– Dr Rosie Llewellyn-Jones MBE, a well-known British Historian and a researcher. Considered to be an authority on Lucknow and in particular Claude Martin. She has written a lot about Lucknow and is considered to be a biographer of Major General Claude Martin through her works.
– Mr Charles Greig, a distinguished British Art Historian and a scholar. Charles has been responsible for the formation of a number of impressive private collections both in Britain and India. He is remembered for his identification, research and attribution of the two spectacular Zoffany paintings – ‘The South Gate of the Lalbagh’ and ‘Nagaphon Ghat’ done in Dhaka in 1787. Charles Greig at this symposium would be talking about Zoffany’s works on Lucknow and particularly in relation to Claude Martin.
Original work of Zoffany – Gori Bibi & Zulphiqar will be on display for inspection. This program will be followed by tea & refreshments.
