A high-speed train from Delhi to Lucknow

Railway is planning for a new semi high-speed train between Lucknow and Delhi via Kanpur with a maximum speed of about 160 kmph. Once the Research, Design and Standard Organisation (RDSO) is done with their part of work on the tracks then the train will start soon, as the requirement is to modify the tracks for the smooth run of the semi high-speed train, and it can take a year or so, said the Railway official.

Railway also announced a few new trains and some other development projects for Lucknow which would start in next six months. They also discussed about Tejas train which is well equipped with hitech facilities like Wi-Fi, LED boards, Braille displays which were announced in the Railway Budget. According to them the train would be back on the tracks in the next three months and would run between Lucknow and Gorakhpur. The transformation of Gomti Nagar railway station into a plush terminal would be completed by next year and also the pending work of Charbagh railway station and re-modelling would start in the next six months.
